Mission accomplished! I've gotten in great shape. fri/sat and mondays practices have been unreal.. pushing 4rds solid on pads... as well as everything else. i've accomplished what i came to do. Now time to get home, maintain, do last bit of sharpening and get to the ring.

This trips been unreal. Got some of the best training there is.. Met some great people.. Got to experience alot of new things. Been a great chapter in the journey. Thanks to anybody thats tuned in to my happenings here in thailand. I look forward to seeing everybody back home and at the gym.. And time to fight Dec 5!

all time

so sitting at the table after breakfast, cruizin the web. Jompop asks me if i want to go to the pet store with him and his girl. i figure sure, why not. lets check out a thai pet store.. Jompops into fighting fish and birds. he collects them and tends to them daily feeding the fish mosquito larvi.. also appears Mr. Pit owes jompop a bird. two days ago while skipping rope mr pit knocked a cage to the ground on accident. BOOM! cage crashed open. one... two... bam! birds gone bolting for a branched its probably dreamed of sitting on for quite possibly years (jpops got some birds hes had for over 10yrs)... it was near magical. anyhow so walking to the truck and the whole thai camp contingency is piling into the truck. ten of us total. and we're off to the pet market.. so stop at the fish.. all kinds of fish big, small, gigantic.. some ten+ footer beasts... puppies, chickens ducks.. all kinds of pets.. so walking thru market and Surat (camp trainer) spots a gaggle of "shrilling chickens" a rubber dog chew that when squeezed makes a god awfully funny shrill.. F'ing hillarious.. so i bought one.. lmao.. we proceed thru the market.. occasionally choking my chicken, cracking up, and all meet up at a cafe/ice cream shop and hang out to have a drink.. everybody gets in on the act of choking the chicken.. LOL.. everybodies dying.. Sarut runs back to get one for his own. he comes back with one whopping chokable chicken and its on.. chickens getting plenty choked.. eveybodys still dying laughing.. probably annoying everyone around. it was an all time moment.. the "shrilling chicken" even comes with a choking hazard written on it.. lmfao!!

last yesterdays tuesday

slept like a baby, best sleep all trip.. woke around 8 thoroughly freshed. made a trip into bangkok, lumpinee stadium. shopped around..

came home stopped at cafe de palma.. the local hanging stop in town. got greet internet access, cold AC, charming baristas, and formal dining without the price. had lunch, omellet wrapped pad thai... and blueberry smoothie.. SMOOTH!

train tracks home, pass the sliced python that didnt make it over the tracks. could probably play stickball with it, the things bat like and charred..

afternoon session arrives, mots (moreofthesame) run, skip rope, shadow, got great padwork 2rds bao 2 jompop.. bag work, clinching, and conditioning.. trainings brutal..

dinner and internet. early morning tomorrow.

back at it.. monday

just past 630 and im late for the run.. i head out to the road and walk alone to the routes beginning.. down the gravel road to a paved street and some kind of a town center with food and some produce to be bought.. hang a left and walk down a shop lined alley way that runs adjacent a buddhist temple/school... and to a ricketty wooden bridge that with enough people walking and scooters crossing it, sways a couple feet in either direction.. up and over the bridge and to another dirt trail and eventual paved road that acts as the start/finish point of every run.. fire off the first couple steps of the run and beep beep, theres Jompop (head trainer) on his motor bike motioning for me to hop on to take me to the pack.. i thankfully turn him down and tell him i'll catch up.. i ended up catching everybody about a mile and half in and tried to settle into the mornings pace but was too agonizing to do so, so i pressed on at the pace i'd been running.. its a nice run. the road runs alongside a river where people fish from and harvest some sort of produce.. the thais living along the river and road also bath in it.. running in the countryside is easier on the lungs than the more polluted streets of bangkok.. a plus at coming to kiatphontip gym.. ended up finishing the run at 42 min about 6to 13 min from previous paces.. leaves me to believe its around 5.5 miles. off from six. lol.. anyhow so practice begins monday morning. muay thai sparring. 4 rds in.. got well banged up.. conditioning to follow and breakfast... 3 in 1 coffees are my latest vice.. problem is there down in about two sips as the mugs are quite pinter.. oh well, make another cup. afternoon session arrives. more of the same, run jump rope, shadow box. sparring again. boxing this time.. have a good go today with the boyz. raja champ kung, irish aemen, aussie guy, and one other all had a good go at each other.. 4rds padding to follow, got a chance to work with jompop a round as the kid hes been training is fighting this week and is no longer padding. jompops a master technician and teaches very well showing me numerous elbow techniques and set ups.. knee clinching afterwards and thoroughly beaten the day ends... dinner and early night.

weekend happenings

Friday- one week in

6 comes quick when ur bodies well beaten from a weeks training.. Rise and do it again.

Good sparring this afternoon.

this evening we loaded up the trucks and headed out to the fights. had 19 people in two trucks..
my trainer bao fought tonight.. he took the fight on a weeks notice against an upcoming kid. bao won every round.. spinnning his opp off balance often and landing clean shots almost at will.. rd 5 came and his opp conceded victory.. choosing not to step in and exchange shots.. sooo you think its a wrap bao def won, well just as i stood cheering baos victory the ref raised his hand pointing in favor of the opposite corner.. WTf!! our corner was pissed... from what i've been told its due to the gambling.. the gambling is so strong that it affects the fights decision. go figure.

camp consensus is that gambling is ruining the sport.

blog 6 "shes massage surfing me"

Wednesday! wow what a day. morning kicked off w/630 run.. followed by shadow boxing, 5rds bag work, 200 knees, 100 teeps (pushkicks), pushups, abs and stretching..

Body was well beat down so decided to head into town to get a massage.. caught a ride into town with the trainers as they had to take a fighter to get photos taken.. otherwise its about a 15 min walk down past the farms and the train tracks and onto the main st of salaya.

so im on the "table of heaven" and the gal starts working on me. she spends about 20 min repairing each leg. O thats good, nice find, holy sh@! that hurts were a few thoughts.. Then came the flip and back and back of leg portion of the massage. She popped up and was massage surfing my back and legs for a good ten minutes. it was unreal. next she performed a modified wwf boston crab manuever and figure four leg massage.. after it was said and done i felt like a million bucks and was ready to be broken down again come afternoon session.

afternoon session arrives soon enough and it started to drizzle which called off the run warmup. so 15 min (thai) jump rope turned into 40 min and the droning of 15+ ropes is still playing in my head. after rope, shadow then sparring again. Got four solid rds in. Felt really good. 3 rds of pads w/Bao after. And leg kicks and stretching to finish.. Its unreal the level of training out here. Not that it cant be replicated back home and that training back home isnt top notch. Theres something this place holds thats its own.

fish and chips for dinner... great fried fish and legit french fries that could pass fo McDs.

thats it, feeling pretty zombied out.

blog4 "mess with the bull, u get the horns"

Tuesday- so the bull energy drink kept me up all night.. got no sleep. Therefore didnt make morning session today. Just kicked back this afternoon. went to cafe. had a mocha and cruized the web.

made afternoon session.. made it four rounds on the pads today. stoked!! getting stronger already. got some great clinch work in as well..

Blog 4 Monday

Monday started at six to prepare for morning session. Roosters crowed signifying the birth of a new day. Boxers gather in the gym @ 630 and slumber to the road to head out for the morning run. The morning run was no joke. I clocked it at 47min and some change long. guessing was six miles or so. After run was shadow, then 3rds bag work. Then drills. This morning practice was more conditioning based and was super gnarly. prob lost a couple kilos water no prob. immediately after practice is breakfast. Ta's been killing it keeping everybody fed.. Shes a great cook and serves three diff dishes w/rice at each meal (curries, chik veggi, fried eggs, some who knows what tasty deals) stoked on her she keeps everybody fed & happy!!

after meal its rest to get the energy up for the next session.

315 and guzzle a Bull energy drink. Ready for second session. 2 mile warm up, Jump rope, shadow and sparring. Sparred 4, 5 min rds w/new person each rd. 1st rd i sparred the current Rajadamneon Stadium champion. (during sparring we wear 20oz gloves and no head gear, Back home i use 14oz gloves w/head gear). Kungs his name. He was great work. Strong puncher w/great vision. second rd i sparred Jompop (one of the head trainers). was fun working with him. He calls himself the thai floyd maywether. worked with kungs little brother Bum after. and another Bao (canadian bao) to finish off the days sparring. That energy drinks damn near an amphetamine cause i dont know how i just pulled off sparring four rds after all the work that'd been done already in the day. after sparring i did another 3 rds pad work with thai Bao. was more technique based and learned good elbow striking. i clinched afterwards for 15 min or so and was well spent after and called it a day. dinner and donezo.. first full day in the books.

Blog 3 Weekend Recap

so made it the gym sat around noon. was greeted by the trainers and owners wife. what a trip it is, driving to the gym. not knowing what to expect. The gym is located on the outskirts of bangkok in the countryside. And i mean country.. Theres giant pigs cruzing around. I've seen four foot lizards crossing the road. Pap its like 33mi rd in michigan. Dirt &gravel. So liam one of the trainers took my bags to the room. I followed. 2 min later each trainer was coming to greet me. Bao (trainer, thamjaj tournament champion) ((tournament winners are held in just as high regards as stadium champions, as to win a tournament is very hard. the consist of several matches lasting over several months) Bao brought me a pepsi. And TA (owners wife) invited me to lunch with the trainers. Lunch was soooo good especially after living off of airplane meal for the prior day. The trainers were laughing at how i knew to eat the local fare (we got thai food back home). Nam Tok (crying tiger in ur local thai joint) and larb kai (minced chicken). Wzs unreal. So after lunch i got settled in my room. Two sets of bunks and closet deal with three fans. homesweethome.

ok three hours later made the afternoon training session. 2 mi run-15min jump rope, shadow box, padding with Bao which i died on.. felt good during run and so on, padding was destroyed on. There is nothing you can do to prepare urself for the heat. Maybe if you could hit pads at bikram yoga class that would work otherwise forget it. Pushed thro. Made three rds. (rds are 5 min long) .. Then did bag work and clinching w/bao.. (seems baos going to be my trainer thus far) he got a kick outta throwing me to the ground every ten seconds.. lol finished w/ neck work, abs so on. Day 1 training done.

Chris from canada fought this night (sat). Banklang stadium. Pretty good show. Its a touristy stadium. Played J.Z. in between rds and other western pops. Chris did well and won by tko.

Sunday_ sundays are off days. had breakfast and linked up with a couple people to go shopping and tour. (currently there are 7 foreigners in camp, canadians, aussies, and europeans).. Went to Tesco which is the equivalent of costco.. ok maybe walmart.. dont wanna take a dig at kirkland products. next thing i know my membership gets revoked. lol.. got necessities (toilet paper, energy drinks, water) came home and went out again this time to mbk mall.. giant mall. 6 levels high. diff levels designated for diff deals.. electronics, eating, clothing and so on. rested rest of day.

Thailand Day 1 Blog

Day 1
HERE WE GO, ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER HOUR, HERE WE GO!!
Thailand bound.. blogging.. sweet! btw first time blogger.. lets not make this too painful. Thailand bound. This is asecond trip to the land of the wais. What brings me here is the opportunity to further my fighting ability. Last fight i had was a hard fought war and im expecting nothing short of that again come Dec 5. So what better placeto prepare than in bangkok where thai boxing is the national sport. Training up until this points been great. I've gotten great sparring with Razor Rob and the guys at HB Ultimate and GG @ RVCA. Great mitt work w/hollywoodJason Parillo. I've enhanced my overall athletiscm with strength training (OCfasttwitch) and speed and agility workw/Matt @ athletesquest. Thank you all!! Now nearly three weeks of living in a muay thai camp. Day in day out nothing but training. Pad work, bag work, clinching, running and plyos. Its the challenge thats alluring. Can I. What if. I dont know what will happen. But i will prepare FOR, and the day will come. And i will see. Much hardwork to be done!!

A little about myself. I got into kickboxing/muay thai when i was 17 (13yrs ago ouch). Up till then i played soccerfor 12 yrs and water polo for six. I remember i was driving with a buddy at the time and we saw a kickboxing signw/phone number and we thought how cool does that sound. A week later we were taking kickboxing classes. Training wasnt anything much more than lining up in single file lines and kicking shields but it was enough to spark my interest and keep me coming back. About six months into training my trainer at the time wanted to start competing. He'd found a gym that would find him fights and he asked me if i'd be interested in fighting. Well the rest is history. I had my first fight june 97' and was hooked. Now 12yrs later and 27 fights, im still at it. more to come.
